Team Iowa members are invited to the 13th Annual Tree Planting Ceremony behind St. Patrick's Church rectory in Delmar, Ia on Sunday, April 29th, 2007 at 2pm.
The New Hope Support Group from Delmar has sponsored a tree planting for 13 years. This event dedicates the planting of a tree to families who make a decision to donate organs and tissue. The tree serves as a symbol of strength and continued life.
Ruth and Ken Gerlach are members of this support group and have donated the tree for this year's ceremony.

Team Iowa is a group of transplant recipients from the state of Iowa that participates in the U.S. Transplant Games. Team Iowa is a program of the NKF of Iowa, which in 2006 sent 27 transplant athletes, 7 living donors, 2 donor families, and 3 transplant professionals. The goal for the 2008 Games is to send 50 athletes, 15 living donors and 5 donor families. To do so, Team Iowa will need to raise about $70,000 to cover registration, transportation, lodging, team uniforms, and meals.

Team Iowa organizes a variety of fundraisers to raise money for scholarships to send athletes of all ages and abilities to the National Kidney Foundation's Transplant Games, an Olympic-style sporting event open only to organ recipients. We are currently raising funds to send athletes and their supporters to the 2010 Transplant Games in Madison, Wisconsin.
